In 1886, Crescent Park opened in the Riverside section of East Providence, Rhode Island. The park got its name from the crescent shape of the beach that was part of the amusement park. The park finally closed in 1979, but the Looff Carousel, originally built in 1895 is still running today. Charles I. D. Looff moved his business to the Crescent Park and built carousels for amusement parks all over New England. Joseph Peckham composed this march in 1896.
