Celebrate with us the 100th anniversary of George Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue” at Newport’s historic Rosecliff mansion. Gershwin is one of the most significant American composers of the early 20th century and his work is an important part of Newport’s musical history.
While the music was composed in 1924, the first Newport performance of “Rhapsody in Blue” was at the Newport Casino in 1931. The Gilded Age Orchestra of Newport will be joined by pianist Kirill Gliadkovsky.
This program is part of the Preservation Society of Newport County’s lecture series. Tickets are $20 for members and $30 for non-members.
